{"id":298,"date":"2007-06-07T12:41:00","date_gmt":"2007-06-07T19:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulgillin.com\/2007\/06\/survey-says-it-pros-put-their-trust-in-social-media.html"},"modified":"2007-06-07T12:41:00","modified_gmt":"2007-06-07T19:41:00","slug":"survey-says-it-pros-put-their-trust-in-social-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gillin.com\/blog\/2007\/06\/survey-says-it-pros-put-their-trust-in-social-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Survey says IT pros put their trust in social media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ITtoolbox and adverting agency PJA <a href=\"https:\/\/research.ittoolbox.com\/surveys\/survey.asp?survey=purchasing_smt_survey&#038;p=1\">published the results of a survey <\/a>that they say demonstrates that IT professionals spend more time on social media sites than reading traditional trade publications and trust the information they find there more than any other published source.<\/p>\n<p>The results serve ITToolbox&#8217;s interests and the .5% response rate makes them statistically irrelevant; still, the findings about trust are probably valid. IT managers have always said they trust each other more than any other source, probably because the other sources haven&#8217;t done a very good job of being all that reliable.<br \/><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\" onclick=\"return false;\" tabindex=\"0\"><span>Publish<\/span><\/a><br \/>I question the survey&#8217;s findings that executive decision-makers spend 3.5 hours a week on social media sites, but I have no doubt that the people who work further down in the organizations spend at least that much time. After all, <a href=\"https:\/\/slashdot.org\">Slashdot.org<\/a> was probably the earliest successful group blog.
